Windows Subsystem for Android Support Has Ended

Microsoft ended WSA support in March 2025, invalidating every guide that recommended running Android apps on Windows through it.

Microsoft deprecated the Windows Subsystem for Android and ended support in March 2025. The Amazon Appstore integration was withdrawn and existing installations no longer receive updates.

Practical effect

  • No supported first-party route to run Android apps on Windows.
  • Every WSA-based guide is now out of date.
  • Third-party emulators are the only remaining option, with their own advertising and telemetry.

Better options on Windows

Licensed services all offer browser playback and many publish Microsoft Store apps. Plex, Jellyfin and VLC cover local and network libraries without emulation.
