Device compatibility
BeeTV on Android TV: Compatibility Notes
How Android TV's leanback UI requirements, remote input model and app-store rules affect BeeTV compatibility.

Android TV shares the Android runtime but enforces a different interaction model. Apps that were designed for touch often function while remaining awkward to operate with a directional pad.
Leanback expectations
Google Play on Android TV requires a leanback launcher intent, D-pad focus handling and TV-appropriate banners. Apps without those elements do not appear in the TV store and, when installed by other means, may not show up in the launcher at all.
- Missing focus outlines make menu navigation guesswork.
- Touch-only controls such as long-press context menus have no remote equivalent.
- Some screens render off-safe-area on 1080p and 4K panels.
Playback and decoding
Android TV boxes vary widely in hardware decode support. High bitrate HEVC and AV1 content fails or stutters on lower-end chipsets regardless of which client requests it, and external player handoff behaves inconsistently across launchers.
Store status and maintenance
BeeTV has no Google Play TV listing. Without store distribution there is no automatic update channel, no signature continuity guarantee and no vendor support path. On a device that typically sits untouched for months, an app that cannot update itself safely is a poor fit.
Licensed options with proper TV support
- Plex and Jellyfin for media you own.
- Tubi, Pluto TV and Freevee for free ad-supported catalogues.
- Major subscription services, all of which ship real leanback interfaces.
